  • Lt. Governor Dewhurst Announces Appointments to Medicaid Reform Waiver Legislative Oversight Committee
    Lt. Governor David Dewhurst appointed four members of the Texas Senate to the Medicaid Reform Waiver Legislative Oversight Committee. "As a state, Texas pays 40 percent of the cost for Medicaid, but the federal government makes 100 percent of the decisions," said Lt. Governor Dewhurst. "The Medicaid Reform Waiver Legislative Oversight Committee will help design a new model for Medicaid, removing federal regulatory barriers and giving Texas the flexibility we need to provide better health care without busting the state budget." The Medicaid Reform Waiver Legislative Oversight Committee facilitates the design and development of the Medicaid reform waiver and facilitates a smooth transition from existing Medicaid payment systems and benefits to a more efficient and cost-effective model. Lt. Governor Dewhurst appointed the following members to the committee: Senator Jane Nelson (R-Flower Mound), Senator Bob Deuell (R-Greenville), Senator Dan Patrick (R-Houston) and Senator Royce West (D-Dallas).

  • Johnson & Johnson to pay $158 million to Texas to Resolve Risperdal Marketing Claims
    Johnson & Johnson's Janssen Pharmaceuticals unit announced Thursday that it reached a settlement agreement with Texas officials under which it will pay $158 million to resolve claims that it illegally marketed Risperdal (risperidone). -- Read Article
  • Houston Area Prescription Fraud Alert
    An African-American obese female has been calling in forged prescriptions in the Houston area. Forged prescriptions for Xanax, Norco and Soma.  Suspect has also faxed the forged prescriptions after calling them in. Contact LaToya Abernathy at (713) 777-7160 for further information.
